The quest for a family photo

I do have something on my Christmas wish list that I really do hope Santa brings me this year.  I would like at least one family photo that includes David, me, and Little B all smiling and looking in the general direction of the camera at the same time.  No stains on our shirts, no hair in face, no temper tantrums to be seen, and no bra outlines anywhere.  I don't think that is too much to ask at all.

We have a few pictures of me and Little B, quite a bit of David and Little B and tons of just Little B.  But none have all 3 of us.  And it is not for lacking of trying.  Here a few outtakes from our last attempt.  And let me just mention... these are the better ones.  My husband would kick me to the couch if I posted the "other ones".

I now realize why people send out Christmas cards with a family photo on them.  It is a form of bragging rights that comes through the mail!  It is a fellow mom rubbing it in my face that not only can she get her entire family to look good and smile all at the same time, but she can also some how work her magic where everyone is wearing the same exact clothes while surrounding by merriment.  She probably wants to fool me into thinking that her family is that way all the time.  I am not buying it for one bit.   And I am okay with that... I just want to her share with me what form of bribery she used to make it happen.

Between David's "Chandler" face, Little B's squirminess, and my lack of photogenic aptitude, I am so worried that we never be able to send out a Christmas card with our photo on it, much less hang a family photo on the wall.

I figure I have at least one year to figure it out before the next Christmas card competition begins.  And if I don't, I am going to take Little B to see Santa and while she is screaming her head off in protest, I am going to take a picture of it.  And that, my friends, will be next year's Christmas card - A picture of a screaming kid.  Why don't you take that and put it up on the fridge!

But a girl can dream and therefore the quest for a decent family photo continues.  Any tips and tricks out there that you want to share with me?

  1. Yep, I say go with photo number one or a screaming kid with Santa photo. It is what the day was :)

My mom wanted a photo of our whole family...my sister and her husband, my family and her and my dad. You should see the photos, you'd feel really good about yours. I told her she should put them all up on the wall. Think how entertaining and unexpected it would be when people saw them :)

We are friends, right? So drop me a line and tell me what is on your mind? There is nothing like a good conversation in the middle of the day to make me smile. And you do make me smile.
