Sleep through the storm

Oh the things we do for sleep.  So now that Little B is past the one month mark, we are attempting to establish a bedtime routine in hope that we may all someday find that elusive good night's sleep that we are all craving in this house.  One of the ideas that has been the biggest success is the thunderstorm music.  We downloaded a 9 minute thunderstorm mp3 off iTunes and that is what Little B falls asleep to every  time we put her to bed.  But what we did not realize at the time is all the nice extra benefits about our choice:

• It does not impede conversation, TV, anything else that we may want to do.
  
• We can sleep through it as well, which is very nice at 3am.
• We can play it in the car, at the house, at some one else's house, etc without being overly obnoxious.
• And best of all, at the same time it is desensitizing our dogs to thunderstorms.  Very big deal since we have recently had a few crazy runaway episodes with Wrigley!
  

Little B: 1 month

We celebrated Little B's 1 month birthday last week.  Woohoo!

We were very busy this past weekend with my brother's wedding where Little B was able to meet many of the important people in her life.

The Halloween Porch

With Halloween just around the corner, my quest for the best Halloween porch is back on.  It needs to be the perfect mix of scary and yet still inviting.  Don't want to scare away any potential trick-or-treaters!  Here are few inspiration porches to get my ideas brewing.

Moby carrier

To all new moms out there or to anyone looking to buy a gift for a new mom, I highly recommend the Moby carrier.  It is a cross between a sling and a Baby Bjorn and it is the only way that I get anything done... like typing up this quick blog entry.

While it is not the most flattering accessory to your outfit, it is definitely more flattering than a screaming baby.

A cold front is supposed to come in later today and change this sticky, muggy weather to a perfect fall weekend.  It has me thinking about how much I love fall and all the reasons why.

Sometimes you just want to dance

In celebration of turning 3 weeks old, Little B gave us her best dance move!

 

 

I heart you, Roomba

I love my Roomba.  If I had a favorite things list like Oprah, it would be on it.  The world could maybe be a better place if everyone owned one.  Okay, that may be dreaming too big.  But seriously, now that I have one, I can never go back... kinda like Tivo.  I am spoiled.

Not only does it clean up dog fur, dirt, dust, and whatever else falls on the floor, it also lulls Little B to sleep.  Clean my house and help keep my baby asleep...  I "heart" you, Roomba!

2 weeks old already

I can't believe my baby girl is 2 weeks old already.  And I can already see that she is changing.  I am excited and sad all at the same time.

I dropped beans on her head

Slowly but surely I am trying to get the hang of this whole motherhood thing.  I am learning that it involves a lot of multitasking and strategic placement of necessary items.  But in all that I am learning, I don't think dropping beans on your child's head while eating will earn me a gold star.  Now her hair smells like a mexican burrito.  Guess it is time for another bath.  Sorry about that, Little B.

Shhh... the baby is sleeping

Thanks to everyone for their kind words and well wishes.  Our new family of three is doing really well and settling into a rhythm.  Little B is keeping us constantly entertained with her coos, yawns, whimpers, grins, hiccups, crazy bed-head hair-dos, and toots.  She definitely has a personality and sense of humor all her own.  We are loving every minute of it!
